About Northgate

How Northgate started

A school cafeteria in 1998, and what happened after. Our story, what we believe and who leads us.

Our story

Five families and a school cafeteria

Northgate started in 1998 when five families began meeting in the cafeteria at Parkway Elementary. The north side was mostly fields and new streets then, and they prayed for the people who would move into the houses that weren’t built yet. In 2004 we opened the building on Northgate Parkway.

We now meet three times on a Sunday, and about a hundred groups meet during the week. Some of the founding families still come to the 9:00, and two of them still run the parking team.

What we believe

What we believe

01

God

He made you, he knows you, and he loves you.

02

Jesus

Through his death and resurrection, anyone can be forgiven and made new.

03

The Bible

It is God’s word, and it has the final say on what we believe and how we live.

04

The church

We grow best in groups, serving side by side and worshipping together.

05

The north side

We serve our neighbours with time, food and money.

Who leads us

Michael has been senior pastor since 2011. He grew up in one of those founding families and was baptized in the cafeteria’s mop sink, which he will tell you about if you ask.

Come on a Sunday

That’s the best way to get to know us. If you’d rather talk first, the Welcome Centre is open on Sundays and the office answers email during the week.
